FAQs

Will my physical mail automatically forward to my Zumbox when I sign up?

No. The transition from physical to digital postal mail will happen over time, but you can impact it. The organizations that send you useful mail are given the option to deliver mail to you via Zumbox in parallel to the paper versions. As you receive digital postal mail and find it comfortable, you can request that the mail senders stop sending you paper mail. Until then, you will continue to receive your physical mail.

How do I know Zumbox keeps my mail secure?

Zumbox provides bank-level data security and is compliant with the security standards of the financial, healthcare and banking industries, ensuring that transactional mail of all types is secure. Our practices are also monitored and verified by TRUSTe and VeriSign. On top of that, Zumbox is a closed system that verifies all users and senders of digital postal mail. We send a verification code on paper to your house (like banks do for debit cards) when you sign up so only you can complete the registration.

How do I reduce paper with Zumbox?

There are several ways. First, you can respond to any mail piece you receive by clicking a “Paperless Please” button which sends a request back to the mail sender and lets them know you prefer to receive their mail digitally via Zumbox so they can stop sending you the paper version. We also present you with a list of large mail senders you can reach out to proactively through the system. Additionally, Zumbox includes various tools for you to reduce the paper junk mail you currently receive.

How is Zumbox different from email?

Zumbox is fundamentally different from email, and one of the key differences is that Zumbox is based on street addresses – there is actually a Zumbox for every street address in the US. It’s a closed system that verifies all users and senders of mail. Unlike email and other channels, you can trust that mail senders are who they say they are. And because it’s a secure channel, you can receive bills, statements and other important mail directly in your Zumbox without having to log in to multiple Web sites.

How much does Zumbox cost?

Zumbox is free to mail recipients! Receiving digital postal mail is always free, and you can store it all forever at no cost. Requesting paperless delivery of your mail is of course also free. Additionally, we let you scan, upload or otherwise store up to 500 additional mail pieces and documents for free. We charge the mailers who send you the mail because they achieve significant cost savings when delivering mail to you digitally vs. on paper.
